August 2011
Dear Friends in Christ,
I have been reading through the verses and the message that Pastor and I presented on June 12th, the Sunday I was commissioned to serve in Togo. I am thankful to be able to return back to these words. The past two months have been a renewal of all of my memories. . .and my need to trust in the Lord. My eagerness to return and to serve is still burning brightly. . yet patience has been essential. Communication has JUST NOW been initiated between the CLET and the National Church; I have been patiently waiting for an agreement between the two to allow me to work with both. Classes will begin soon at the CLET, and in mid September, the high school students will be returning to school. There will be plenty to do… but just where and when are still undetermined. The National Church has asked me to help find sources of funding for some of their needs. Having our electricity cut for days at a time, and when the electricity was restored, having no internet connection for several days, has made this a challenge. We are very thankful though for the rains that have come to give water to thirsty crops, and provide many of us (including ME) with a more ample source of water. (Large Rubbermaid storage bins from Wal-Mart serve well as rainwater catchers!) I am so thankful for your prayers, encouragement and support. I ask that you continue to pray for discernment and clarity of thought on my part, as so many people come asking for aid and assistance.
Your fellow worker in Christ, Valerie in Dapaong, Togo.
