Rev Doua Xiong & St Paul Hmong Outreach

St. Paul Hmong Outreach Ministries has been actively reaching out to the Hmong people in their native tongue for more than 19 years. The Hmong people of Laos served alongside US troops to combat and defeat Communist forces during the Vietnam War. After the war, the Hmong people sought refuge in the US, bringing their language, culture and religious beliefs with them. Many of the Hmong people are animists, believing there are spiritual powers in all things, practicing shamanism and ancestor worship. The Hmong Outreach Ministry program brings hope to these people in the truth of God’s Word and the freedom found in faith in Christ Jesus through worship in in their own language. As Romans 10:17 states, “faith comes from hearing the message and the message is heard through the word of Christ”. Families are coming to faith in Jesus, being baptized and confirmed.

Rev. Doua Xiong, a graduate of Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, and his wife Sue, minister to the Hmong Community at St. Paul, Merced. Pastor Doua began his vicarage assignment in Merced, at St. Paul Lutheran Hmong Outreach in 2014, under the supervision of Rev, Kou Seying, and has remained with the ministry since that time. He and his wife Sue have four children. Sue is also very active in LWML, sharing her joy in Christ with others.
